Tomato Dosa is a tasty twist to the usual ones. Kids would like this for its color. I like to have this with sugar though it tastes good with coconut chutney also. The cone shape was made to entertain the kids…
the recipe
dosa batter – 2 cups
tomato, chopped – 2
ginger, chopped (optional) – ½ tsp
onion – ½
kashmiri chilly powder – ¼ - ½ tsp
salt – to taste
ghee or oil – as required
the method
heat 1 tsp oil in a pan and add the onion and tomatoes. Sauté for 30 seconds and add the chilly powder. Stir for few seconds and turn off heat. Grind this together with ginger into a fine paste. Mix it to the batter and add salt.
Heat a griddle, grease and pour a ladle of batter. Pour 1 tsp or more ghee or oil over the batter. Turn and cook. Serve.
how to make the cone shape
Use a bread knife and cut from the middle of the dosa to one edge. Use the knife or spatula to roll the dosa in any side and you can see a cone. Make the cone when the dosa is on the griddle and after making a crispy dosa.
